There are 3 different methods that I use with plywood.
Method 1:
Plywood tops & bottoms with a hardwood face. The face has dado cuts where the plywood can inlay and sit making it almost seamless. This method can be used if you want a really tough face, or a very long face. Normally plywood is only 96" in length, where you can buy hardwood up to 120" plus in length.
Method 2:
The miter fold method is really popular, but it takes some practice to really nail down. The build consists of multiple 45 degree cuts that lead to a folded box of plywood.
Method 3:
I believe this is the quick win and anyone is capable of doing it! All you need is a plywood top and bottom with some iron on edgeband. This is the easiest method and I go into better detail in episode 3.

Nice work
That's some nice work Sir no doubt about it. But If you are not in the right market, to where you can actually get paid, for what your work is worth, is the bitch about the whole industry. My reasons are because of the huge demands on housing now, 98% of clients will love your work, but sadly won't be willing want to pay for perfection. They assume it should all be perfect at whatever price.
Informative, Entertaining, and it has toggle bolts!? Man! this video has everything i love in a great video! Great job!
Love you man!!! ❤️😂
Love your videos! You’re an excellent teacher and make it easy to follow 👏🏼
Thanks guys!!!! Did you see how clean I sanded them with my 5” !!?
Man I love these but they price themselves out of my market. I’ve had to turn down a few jobs because COG is getting ridiculous. But great video sir!
Yes I feel your pain! COG is up everywhere for everything. Appreciate the feedback!
Perfekt gelöst 😊
Thanks for creating this. I’ve built a number of shelves based off of your videos. Keep them coming! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Glad my videos helped!! Make sure to use my code for a discount if you purchase any brackets!
Awesome work
Thanks bro
How do you figure out what size brackets to use?
On the site, always choose a size that is 2-5 inches smaller than the size of your shelf.
Great video! What kind of rounder bit you used and where did you get it? Thanks,
Heck ya, thank you
Can you stain the edge banding? Love your floating shelves, btw. I've tried a few different ways to attach them to the wall, and I'll definitely try the brackets next time.
Yes you can! But dont soak it! Use a foam brush ✅. If you use these hollow core brackets from shelfology, enter my discount code: SHELF-ARMY-DUNCWOODS
Thank you
When you spray your clear, get closer... 8-12". You will have to move a little faster but that's how you do it... to flare or only do half then the other half. On that, you can go from side to side.
Appreciate the feedback
@Duncwoods the mantle looks awesome btw..gladyoj figured it out😃
Looks great. Nice work.
Thanks 👍
Sheesh that is smooth. I was thinking how cute would it be if some of those shelves had little drawers on the inside, since it’s on a pretty thick shelf anyways
That would be dope!
looks bad just needed the top 2
Okay, I will let them know and go remove it. You’re right
That's pretty slick brother ❤
Appreciate it!!
Show how you cut the 45
I have a full video on that ✅
Great job
All the seams and still looks seamless.
Ayyyyyye 💪🏽💪🏽
My finish never comes out that great. And it’s quite frustrating after executing an almost flawless build. What kind of stain do you use?
I didnt use a stain, I used General Finishes Dead Flat. You can foam brush it on, or spray like I did
Flawless Victory!!!
💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Ok, I've got a crappy table saw, a barely working band saw, a passable skil saw, and a router with a new on/off switch as of yesterday. What tool purchase would you recommend? Should i get a router table? Invest in a track saw? Get a solid table saw? Beautiful crisp work as always.
You will never regret investing in a good table saw. The most used tool in the shop!
@@Duncwoods thanks for the advice! I also heard that there's some federal table saw regulations coming down re:saw stop technology that may make table saws way more expensive in the future. So I guess table saw it is! (The wife won't be happy lol)
@@crispy9175 not the place, sorry, but they have a genius which allows them to slowly destroy us, while pretending that they're protecting or saving us. That table saw law coming is just one example of thousands. They're (sadly) amazing.
Ship lap? 😢
Yup
Dude made the whole thing without even waking up the baby.
LOL
Great tip!
Heck yeah 💪🏽
You got me with that lock-in sound !😂
Make sure you listen out for it!
❤❤❤❤❤❤ Hilarious af! 😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂
Nice work, but where do you get such hollowed out boards?
I build them ✅
@@Duncwoods GREAT WORK!!!!
I love this
love the light!
Caulk
Yes! Stronger is better!
✅✅✅💪🏽
Nice work! I love the Blum undermount slides.
Best in the game!
Dunc I am new to your channel and was going through your videos and was wondering if you had any of the plans for the items you have built.
Thanks for visiting! I actually dont, but I should start making some!
Where can I find the cut list/dimensions???
Nah... that's what caulking is for... you messed the one up
3” caulk is the best
❤
Thank you
u forgot one step... "buy the bloody saw"
Oooops!
Good work.
Thank you!
Where did you get your reeding panels?
can you teach me how to install that bad boy to the WALL? those 4 screw methods make me scared
Respect ✊🏼
🤛🏽🤛🏽
I need a table saw
Start with the Skill Saw $600 contractor saw. That was my 2nd saw after my Harbor Freight one
Good start
🤛🏽🤛🏽
But what if we don't have a jointer and our saw blades are dull? (Asking for a friend).
Lol! Amazon will save you
This isn't renter friendly,is??
Nope!
What does that do,what is it NEEDED FOR..
